As far as blogs go, I'd like you to know how refreshing it is to see one that is not only inspiring, amusing, aesthetically provoking, creative and tongue in cheek. Keeping literary content in blogs is becoming less of a trend, and it's a shame; but you manage to keep a nice balance. I wanted to say thank you for the never ending and always evolving content of this joint. X
I thank you for that, especially because you are smart enough to understand why my blogs evoke such a response and readership from people. A lot of people try to emulate The Hundreds blog or even my secondary blog here on Tumblr by buying an expensive camera, building a heavily designed website, or posting a buncha crap. The reality is that the driving force behind the blog’s popularity is the storytelling and the writing involved. It ALWAYS comes back to writing.
Unfortunately, writing and literary content are the most overlooked and underrated skill sets out there. Everyone believes it’s about pretty pictures or funny videos, but if you really think about it, the Internet’s soul is about the writing and the reading.
As far as life skills also, knowing how to write will take you further than anything else. I firmly believe that. Farther than design, fashion, photography, who you know, and how much money you have. Because if you know how to write effectively, you know how to communicate in it’s rawest and basest form. And all that other stuff (the design, fashion, photography, etc.) are all derivatives of communication - establishing connections between human beings.
To tell a story is to capture someone’s mind. To speak to them and have them hear you… once you’ve grabbed their attention, you own them for that moment. You win.
