Hahahahah I must of been delirious when I typed out that question. What I meant to ask, was; What has been the most beneficial social network for The Hundreds? What social network do you like the most?
When it comes to online presence, nothing beats the original: the Blog. That’s where everything came from, that’s where it returns. All of these social networks and platforms are about Storytelling - whether telling your story or that of others, observed. The blog provides the most comprehensive and unfettered format to do it.
My favorite social network for the time being is Instagram. I fought it a little at first, but I like it because it’s challenging: Although it’s a camera, it’s a low-res iPhone camera, and therefore an entirely new medium for me to work in. Everyday I’m figuring out how to max out all the angles, using the preset filters, doing the most I can with what little I have. That’s what’s awesome about Instagram - it’s the great equalizer. Everyone starts at zero and let’s see how far creativity and ingenuity can take you and your iPhoneographs.
Although I don’t use it as a social network, I think of Twitter like a game. It’s basically a social psychology experiment for me, a language chess game, playing with words, figuring out what humors our customers, determining how people define the world. The briefer and more concise I can whittle down a tweet and still make a point, the bigger I win. Most people never pick up on it but I try to fit at least two, sometimes three or four meanings into one tweet. It’s super nerdy of me, and often goes unappreciated, but it helps me later with my other work. (After all, if you’ve been paying attention, every single one of our t-shirts is basically a tweet.)
Then again, I feel like my Twitter goes over 90% of my followers’ heads - ducking all the sarcasm and probably figuring, “Wow this guy is really retarded.”
